The Sathya Sai International Organisation (SSIO) received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Salvation Army Australia on 17 September 2020 in Canberra for it’s support for a food fair which helped the victims of bush fire that hit the region in the summer of 2019/20.
The SSIO participated by providing volunteers to run a successful food fair that was run by Vishnu-Shiva temple in Canberra in conjunction with Canberra Tamil Association and Indian Business Council during the height of the bushfires. Approximately twenty members from SSIO ACT Region volunteered in providing assistance for this event.
The Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the SSIO by Salvation Army’s Public Relations Secretary for ACT and South NSW Major David McMurry in a small ceremony at the Vishnu Shiva Temple. The function was also attended by Minister Zed Seslja (ACT Senator and Asst Minister for Finance and Charities and Electoral matters).
During the speech given by Major David McMurry, he spoke of how highly impressed he was of the SSIO, in particular it’s focus on Unity of Faith’s and service to the community. The SSIO ACT Region President was given an opportunity to say a few words in the ceremony in which he emphasised the fundamental values at the heart of SSIO of Love All – Serve All, Help Ever – Hurt Never.
