The National Liquid Love program was formally launched in early July with the release of a brand new promotional video. The National Liquid Love program is an annual blood donation drive by the Sathya Sai Organisation in Australia to assist those who are in need of urgent blood. Blood donation is a life saving activity that also involves minimum time and minimum inconvenience.
The Sathya Sai Organisation Australia have a strong track record of rallying behind the Liquid Love Blood donation drive, with regions from across the county participating actively over the past few years. This year the Liquid Love team have put forward a target of achieving 950 donations by members of the Sathya Sai Organisation to align with the 95th birthday of Swami this year.
Despite the current COVID-19 pandemic, blood donation is still recognised an essential service and blood donation centres around the country have taken a number of steps to ensure the necessary safety measures are in place. Red blood cells are vitally useful for treatments for cancer and blood diseases, surgical patients, orthopaedic patients, obstetrics and for people with other medical problems including heart, stomach and kidney disease. Approximately 1 in 3 people in Australia will need blood or blood products in their life time, however only 3% of the population donates blood.
There are three types of blood product donations that people can undertake as part of this drive. These are donation of whole blood, plasma or platelets. Whole blood can save up to three people per donation, plasma can provide up to 18 life saving treatments and platelets can save up to 3 lives per donation.
Participants in this year’s Liquid Love Program are requested to register under “Sathya Sai International Organisation – Liquid Love Project” and are encouraged to download the “Lifeblood App” on their phone for easy bookings.
For further information members are requested to speak to their Regional Liquid Love representative or e-mail the national liquid love coordinators.
