New South Wales Region West undertook a major service activity to mark the 95th Advent of Sathya Sai Baba. The service activity started with a spiritual discipline plan with members of NSW Region West practicing Ceiling on Desires for 95 Days.
Savings from this were voluntarily pledged to purchase 2,800 birthing kits as an offering of Love on the 95th Advent of Sathya Sai Baba. On Saturday 5 December, 90 members came together to assemble the birthing kits, all done of course in a COVID-safe manner. These kits will then be delivered to women giving birth in under-resourced settings across the world to help prevent fatalities and infections, and it is expected to save 5,600 lives. The members found this activity to be highly fulfilling in the knowledge that it would help out members of society who are most in need. This initiative has been a part of the Regions calendar for the last 3 years, working together with KIT International (formerly Birthing Kit Australia).
In addition to the birthing kit’s activity, the Young Adults of NSW Region West collaborated with the not-for-profit organisation Samaritan’s Purse to collect shoe boxes filled with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and fun gifts. With Swami’s grace, and in time for Christmas, the young adults collectively put together 72 boxes, which will be delivered to children in Cambodia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.
