Victoria Blood and Plasma Donation Service

On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Aradhana Mahotsavam, Victoria Region West organised a blood/plasma donation on Sunday 25 April 2021, as from 09.00 AM. The team was assigned two Blood Donor Centres, namely in Werribee and Bundoora. Twenty seven members from the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation volunteered for the service activity, including 6 Young Adults.

The participants of the service activity were grateful to be able to respond to an important need in the community as every week the Australian Red Cross requires 31,000 pints of blood. The blood donated can be made into 22 different medical treatments with one third of blood donations helping treat people with cancer. Every blood donation can help save three lives. People of all walks of life need blood products and some require it to get them through a serious event in their lives, like cancer or a difficult pregnancy. Others have medical conditions which mean they need blood products regularly to stay alive or be healthy. Each type of blood donation is used for different medical treatments, and the blood type determines the best donation to make.
