For the past few years, the ladies wing of SSSIO Australia has been proactive in taking part in the Mother’s Day Classic Walk held on Mother’s Day each year to aid research in breast cancer.
This is a community engagement initiative organised by National Breast Cancer Foundation and Women in Super. The National Sai Ladies Wing joins in this event with other groups to participate as an organisation in our local community. This year the walks were held in local venues and in smaller groups as well as some virtual fun-runs due to COVID-19 restrictions in many Australian states.
The states that took part in the Mother’s Day Classic Walk this year were NSW East, NSW West, Victoria East, Victoria West and ACT.
Ladies, gents, young adults as well as some children took part in the walk across the country. It was great to see ladies with some families getting together in this forum after a long time that allowed them to mix and mingle. The majority of participants wore pink on the day reminiscing a cohesive group.
The event aims to bring awareness of breast cancer to the members and the community, brings women & men together in a community gathering and boosts morale for those whose families have been affected by breast cancer and other forms of hardships.
